LOL of the day: Red Mage explains why logical plans fail and illogical plans succeed.

Class started with rolling. Justin, Big Jon (not John, as I’d always thought), and Adam. Everything the opposite of last night. Meh.

Drilling — same half guard pass as the rest of the week (lol, I say that, and it’s only Tuesday night, but it feels like we’ve been drilling this forever). Justin added an extra detail to the beginning: get your knee slightly free first (not over their leg, because then you can just pass, but just not so deep) before switching over so that your knee is definitely free once you do. Then later, added switching back to the turn-around half guard pass if they overcommit their hips to go with you. Worked in with Andrew 2 and Jon, and then a few reps with Guillaume when his partner left.

Rolling again. Guillaume and Andrew 2. I did actually get the half guard pass on Guillaume, though with anyone else, I’m not keeping my weight on them enough and am getting immediately reversed.

I had a hard time falling asleep last night and then, as soon as I did, a big ol’ storm hit and kept waking me up. *le sigh*

Lots of rolling this morning. With Robert, then sat out one as there was an odd number, then Big Jon.

Drilling was an escape for that half guard pass, since everyone is using it, lol. Get your underhooked arm pulled back so your elbow is underneath. Butterfly their nearer leg, bridge back (instead of trying to roll in to them) a bit & lift their leg; switch your legs and come to side control.

Drilled with Jess until she left and then with Jon. One more roll, with Robert again. Short roll, because we all had to split for work.

This week, Thursday – Saturday, is Karate College up here. Renzo, Matt Serra, and Paul Creighton are all coming in. Yesterday was also my mom’s birthday, so my sister and brother-in-law are coming in this weekend. Lots of stuff going on.
